This is the Future
Did you think Germany is a highly developed and sophisticated country?

Compared with Singapore we are sort of Cavemen.

For example:
you all know these new gigantic lcd-monitors used for concerts and footballmatches in stadiums?

Imagine there are several of these all over the city showing ads and teasers to the people who are shopping, on their way to work and so on.
I don´t talk about two or three, I´m talking about one every houndred meter (specially on Orchard Road, the high-end shopping and hotel quarter).

You have the up to date cellphone?
Throw it away, people there have the newest...

I mean almost everything there is high tech, even the MRT (Mass Rapid Transport, their Underground) is the most modern all over the world and it´s amazing!

Oh You´re looking for nature?
Something what´s not manmade?

Go to Malaysia or Indonesia...

Even the beaches on Sentosa Island are manmade, Parks are similar to nature and beautifully handshaped.

I don´t say anything negative about all that!
It´s really amazing There and you should go there for a few days to experiece this beautiful city.
It´s about twice as big as Munich but there are living about 4.5 mio people (1.3 mio in Munich), so it´s very crowded.

There you can have cultural shocks several times a day:

Our hotel was quite near the centre, directly next to Orchard Rd with all the super modern Shopping MAlls where you can buy everything, where it´s loud and crowded like in New York.

Take a cab and go to Chinatown, it doesn´t take more than 10 minutes and costs about 2,50 €.
Suddenly there are no more skyscrapers but little houses, tiny roads, small chineese shops, markets and restaurants with tasty and original chineese food which is very tasty. Try the Chilie Crab!

Then take a cab and go to Little India.
3 MRT stations away from Chinatown.

Arrived there you really are in India!
Indian styled and painted houses, indian shops and markets, indian restaurans where more people eat with their fingers than with chopsticks or cutlery. This is easy to learn and when you once tried a fishhead curry, you dont want to eat european food any longer.

Then go to Sentosa ´s beaches, or to the Botanical Garden.

The whole world in one city - fantastic!

Also people over there are very nice!
In my opinion, they are more friendly than german people.

I found some new friends and i wanna visit them again.
I went to a Halloween Party with them in a stylish club and we had much fun.

- Big City Nights -

Thanks Fifi, Nana, also Beng, Dith, and all the others for all the great experiences!

Tanks also to Werner Janda and Renate Heldt who brought me there and to Morocco, Thanks to the great Team, Katinka, Dirk, Bernd and Jan for this great Job.

Hugs to the Guys, kisses to the ladies

Hope to see you all soon

First day in Singapore
Hi Friends and Family!

Our first Day was hard work but a pleasure!

It´s very humid and hot, as like in Sri Lanka.

Sky is very cloudy because people in Sumatra are burning down the Rain Forest for their plantations.

our first location was outside a museum,

the second was on a small part of ancient Singapore.

People here are destroying all the old buildings to create new skyscrapers made of steel and concrete.

Im my opinion, the old buildings are much more pretty than these tall and modern skyscrapers...

The team is still very good and we have much fun at work!

--> Specially for Johannes Felsch: Team´s greeting back. Rock the buisness!

More next time.

Yours,
Chris

It happened again!!!
Well friends, it really happened again.

The second time I got trouble with KLM/Airfrance.

You surely remember my adventure how I came to Marrakech...
No, this time it wasn´t that hard, but when I arrived at Munich Arport, my Flight to amsterdam had one hour delay!
So a friendly woman from KLM/Air France told me to go directly to the main bureau.

There I was told, that I have to completely change my flight to Singapore.

They gave me a flight vie Paris Charles de Gaulle, but I had to wait for about two hours for that...

So I took my mom who accompanied me, and had a few - imagine - vodka tonics with her. Just for relaxation! ;-)

Also the friendly man from Air France gave me a Buisness Class Lounge Ticket to wait for my flight (all beveages were totally free!!!).

So I came the second time in two weeks to Paris (well, only to the airport).

Finally i came to Singapore.

The flight was very long, about 12 hours.

It´s an amazing City/State with many skyscrapers, Malls and huge Shops.

The next days I´ll post more foto´s from the city.

The hotel is amazing! Kng size Bed, the courtains open with Radio control, we have DVD-Players in the rooms and a huge bathroom completely in marble. And naturally very expensive internet.

Al right my friends, now I´ts time to go to bed, tomorrow and the next week will be very exhausting and by the way, It´s half past eleven, not half past five here!

Singapore-preparing the journey
Well folks, I´m preparing my next journey.
I searched some info´s on the internet for you:

As you now know, it´s Singapore and I´m really looking forward to this journey.

We will have an excellent hotel to recreate from hard work.

We have to be very careful there because of their strict laws:

Smoking is forbidden almost everywhere,
throwing waste on the street (chewing gums, cigarette filters, paper, ...) will be punished very hard.
Cars may not be older than 10 years,
and so on.

But that´s why Singapore is a very clean state, you will not see any dirt on the streets.

It also is a very modern state with many new public transport systems.

Well, I´ll have a look on all the interesting things to inform you about whats up there.

See you,

Chris

Marrakech pt.3
Hi again.

After my strange starting and my exhausting first day we started work.

But first of all you should see the nice park of the hotel:

It was hard work and when you imagine that we had about 35° C, you maybe can understand what it´s all about.

We had to carry around much equipment, the access to most of the locations wasn´t easy. Sometimes we had helping hands but almost we had to carry all the stuff ourselves.

It was a very good experience and we had much fun at work and the team was cool and nice.

Also the models have been cool, it was a pleasure to work with them.

The locations have been very special, from the Riads (big houses) in the Medina (the ancient part of the city), palace-like hotels, or the Kasbah, a kind of ancient fort of the Berbers, we also took photo´s in the desert (well, nearby the Kasbah, next to the street) or at the beach of a lake.

Now you have small impressions of Marrakech and our work there.

Next week I´ll be in Singapore, that will be fun and lots of work again. And I´m gonna write a new story for you with all my adventures and experiences.

Hope to see you soon.

Marrakech pt.2
Hotel Le Méridien

Excellent Hotel with excellent service.

After a short break with thé à la methe I went to the Médina, the ancient city of Marrakech.

It´s quite hard there when you are allone, everyone wants to guide you to some special place – the shop of some friend, where you pay double the price than normal... well still a little cheaper than in good old Germany.

Sightseeing? No way - only shops, for textiles, glass and waterpipes, shoes and so on.

But without someone who knows the Médina, you are lost, it´s really chaotic with all the small streets crossing here and there, one bazar after another.
Funny and exhausting.

Now I´m recreating, tomorrow will be our first day of work.

See you later,
Chris

The adventure started
12.00h 2006-10-02
No, thank´s I´m through with all this. I should be in Marrakech in one hour – but it came different:

I met sinhala people at the airportbar in Paris and after 3 drinks (two of them were much too expensive, the third was free of charge...) I´m fine again.

It all started at 07.30h in Munich with 20 min. delay.
That delay caused that I came late to the airport Charles De Gaulle in Paris and further I didn´t get my flight at the airport Orly, also in Paris but on the other side of the city....

- Just to inform you, it costs € 55,- to get from one airport to the other with the taxi, so you understand why I´m very angry!!! By the way, the transfer-bus was already gone.
€ 55 for nothing as we´ll see.

First, Air France wanted me to stay one night at a hotel near the airport in Paris, but that was not posible for me.

After discussing a while (about 20 min), the very sympathic ladies from Air France at the airport Orly found another flight to Marrakech, over Casablanca, but this takes about 10 hours longer as planned.

14.00h
So I´m sitting here again at the Airport Charles De Gaulle since one hour.
Yes you are reading right, I had to go back to the first airport, this time free of charge.

J J J J J

14.30h
...And I`m waiting at the bar for the next flight to Marrakech via Casablanca.

As I mentioned, there were sinhala people, who invited me for the third drink and now I´m relaxed enough to take all that not too bad J

14.50h
Well, enough for now, my flight is boarding now, I have to go...

15.45h
Now I´m in the airplane to Casablanca.

Sun is shining and the weather is fine (yeah we are above the clouds...), France is still below of us, or is it Spain?

Here it comes, the fourth vodka tonic! This time with a very good view out of my window (but lunch/dinner in the airplane is terrible...)

The earth is far away, so are my sorrows.

17.00h
Casablanca
The flight was ok, with some small turbulences.
My next flight to Marrakech departs at 23.05 – five hours to wait.

But I didn´t want to wait at the airport, so I went to Casablanca for sightseeing.
We (my driver and me) went to visit the moschée (it´s ramadan this month – everyone has to pray and so on), had some thé à la menthe and tasty regional food.
It´s a very nice place here, you would like it here.
Te traffic is quite chaotic but very funny. There are traffic rules, but no one takes care of them.
I remember sri lankan traffic.

22.00h
Back again at the casablancan airport.
Only half an hour to wait for boarding...

00.30h 2006-10-03
Finally I´m in the hotel now.
Only 12 hours later than I wanted to be here.
I´m tired as hell and have to sleep now.

That was my adventure to come to Marrakech in more than 20 hours.

See you soon,
Chris

My last holidays
This here is the fabulous beach of Ranweli Holiday Village where I´ve been in winter ´05/´06.
It was really great there but too short.
It´s already half planned to go there again this winter but then for more than two weeks.
But there´s still a lot to do ´till then...
